چکیده مقاله:

The main emphasis in developing DOS has been on achieving low crosstalk (CT). CT in the order of -30 dB is acceptable in conventional DOS and below that value is hard to achieve. Relatively low drive voltage (or power requirements) is also necessary to optimized DOS. This paper depicts the design of Y-branched digital optical switches (DOS) with optimized on-chip area coverage, reduced driving voltage and cross talk. The proposed switch is designed using channel profile of proton exchanged lithium niobate substrate. The electro-optic effect of the material has been investigated from the DOS operation.

Picojoule threshold, picosecond optical parametric generation in reverse proton-exchanged lithium niobate waveguides

We have demonstrated picosecond optical parametric generation in reverse proton-exchanged waveguides in periodically poled lithium niobate with thresholds as low as 200 pJ. Near-transform-limited near-infrared pulses were obtained from cascaded optical parametric generation. For a 1.8-ps (FWHM) pump pulse at 769.6 nm, a saturated internal photon-conversion efficiency of 33% was obtained with 1 ...

Plasma etching of proton-exchanged lithium niobate

Plasma etching of lithium niobate with fluorine gases is limited by the redeposition LiF. This results in a low etch rate and nonvertically etched walls. Etching of proton-exchanged lithium niobate can prevent the LiF deposition to a large extent because of the greatly reduced lithium concentration in lithium niobate. We performed different inductively coupled plasma etching processes using SF6...

Light-enhanced electro-optic spectral tuning in annealed proton-exchanged periodically poled lithium niobate channel waveguides.

We report the observation of light-enhanced electro-optic spectral tuning in annealed proton-exchanged, asymmetric domain-duty-cycle periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) channel waveguides for second-harmonic generation. The spectral tuning rate was increased rapidly from 0.07 nm/(kV/mm) to a saturated value of 0.32 nm/(kV/mm) in a 30%/70% domain-duty-cycle PPLN waveguide when the fundamen...

Low-threshold spatial solitons in reverse-proton-exchanged periodically poled lithium niobate waveguides.

Combining reverse proton exchange and uniform periodic poling in LiNbO3 planar waveguides, we demonstrate low-energy spatial optical solitons by second-harmonic generation at room temperature, with a threshold as low as 23 pJ/microm at 1.5 microm.

Anisotropic model for the fabrication of annealed and reverse proton exchanged waveguides in congruent lithium niobate.

An anisotropic model for the fabrication of annealed and reverse proton exchange waveguides in lithium niobate is presented. We characterized the anisotropic diffusion properties of proton exchange, annealing and reverse proton exchange in Z-cut and X-cut substrates using planar waveguides. Using this model we fabricated high quality channel waveguides with propagation losses as low as 0.086 dB...

Nonlinear Susceptibility and Second Harmonic Generation in Proton- Exchanged Lithium Niobate Waveguides

Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) is one of the most commonly used optical crystals because of its excellent electro-optic and nonlinear optical properties. Ease of waveguide fabrication and amenability to periodic poling has made lithium niobate highly attractive for quasi-phase-matched guided wave interactions such as second harmonic generation (SHG) and optical parametric amplification/oscillation [1...
